To be eligible for apostille in New Jersey, your documents must be either issued by the government agency within the state if NJ or notarized by the New Jersey Notary Public. School records, diplomas, transcripts and statements must be duly notarized to be eligible.
Vital records, should be issued by the vital records office and contain the facsimile signature of the State Registrar and the embossed seal of the Vital Record Office which issued the document. This will include: death, birth and marriage certificates.
Single Status Certificates (also known as no record of marriage) needs to be requested by the applicant directly though the New Jersey Department of Health. They provide application form and instructions online. (In-person is not available).
Notarized documents, including Powers of Attorney, affidavits, copies of driver license, passport copies, diplomas, transcripts, resolutions and authorizations must contain all proper statements, signatures and notarial stamps.
In New Jersey apostille will be issued to the documents in foreign language, as long as the notary statement (acknowledgement or jurat) are complete and in English.
