University and School Degree, Transcript, and Diploma Apostille

Two most common educational documents which are required to have an Apostille or Embassy Attestation stamp (Certificate of Authentication) are Diploma and Transcript. 

The process of getting Diploma Apostille or Transcript authenticated for embassy legalization, depends on the target country. Some accept apostille certificates, others insist on embassy attestation. Further, some countries, like Russia will accept Apostille Diploma Copy, whiles others like Spain require originals to be with apostille. 

There are several common ways to have apostille or attestation issued for diplomas and transcripts:

1. Diploma Apostille on Original - For this option a duplicate replacement document is requested from the school or university. At the same time a request for verification is placed through the Office of the Registrar. The duplicate is then signed and notarized as original at the school and therefore eligible for further apostille and attestation processing. 
2. Diploma Apostille on Photocopy through School - Some US based universities, instead of issuing a duplicate, will produce a photocopy and a verification letter on the school letterhead with the school seal confirming that the diploma was issued to the applicant. This diploma copy is then eligible for apostille and attestation for use outside of the United States. 
3. Diploma Apostille on Photocopy - A copy is made from original and notarized as such. The diploma apostille certificate is issued on the statement of copy certification.
